EM429: CREMONA - Touch to know: the upper limbs in children with p.c.i. and related disorders

INTRODUCTION

The course refers to the Bobath Concept, a problem solving model approach aimed at the evaluation and treatment of children with movement and postural control disorders caused by central nervous system injury.
The goal of treatment is to optimize function by improving postural control and participation. Repetition in varying contexts and with varied problem-solving strategies is a key element in inducing stable and generalizable change. Inducing such change requires interaction with the environment in the broadest sense. The development of manual skill, adaptation of games to pathology, game suggestions, and interaction with everyday objects for autonomy are closely linked to experience.
Feedback is fundamental to learning processes. The upper limb becomes one of the means by which the child comes into contact with the world around him: development and clinical pictures, evaluation and choice of aids for the upper limb, sitting posture, communication and sensory problems. Adaptability of toys, activities of daily living, choice and proposal of modifications.

Educational Objectives.
- To implement an EBM-based reasoning model, how to conduct an assessment
functional upper extremity
- Learning assessment models, environmental facilitation, choice of aids aimed at
to the support of upper limb use in various ADLs
- Implementation in the modes of caretaking of the Bobath perspective
